January 14th-17th, 2027
We're excited to announce the
2027 TLHA Annual Conference will be held at Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site

Plows, Planes, and Parchment: Building Texas explores the intertwined forces that shaped Texas—from the labor that worked the land, to the craftsmanship that built its towns, to the ideas recorded in ink that defined its laws and identity. This theme invites living history practitioners to examine how agriculture, architecture, and governance, as the building blocks that came together through both physical effort and philosophical vision, to create Texas. By focusing on the people who farmed, built, wrote, and governed, the conference encourages meaningful discussion on interpreting the material and intellectual foundations of the Texas story in ways that are authentic, engaging, and relevant.

Call for proposals/papers will open on June 1st.
